Support by Telephone
We answer calls from individual bereaved by suicide all year round. We provide information on what supports are available to them, listen to people who want to talk about their bereavement and connect them with our support groups or to other bereavement supports.
Support by Email
Every person who contacts us via email is answered with 24 hours. This service is free of charge. All of the facilitators who work with HUGG have been bereaved by suicide, so can provide empathy and lived experience to those who contact us.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we moved all of our peer support groups online. The groups run every two weeks and are led by a trained facilitators. Our groups provide those who are bereaved by suicide with a confidential space where there is hope, healing and connection with others who understand the loss of a loved one to suicide.
HUGG provides support groups for any adult bereaved by suicide. Currently, our groups are Dublin based, but as we grow and can train new facilitators, we will be providing peer support groups throughout the country. We will continue to grow our online groups until the COVID-19 crisis has passed. Our ambition is that we will have group support available for every adult in Ireland.
Resources & Events
We provide all those who attend HUGG groups with resources to help them cope with their bereavement. We have a library of books and resources which are provided to attendees, free of charge.
We are constantly engaging with other bereavement organisations in Ireland and beyond, learning and adapting our services to the needs of those affected by suicide loss.
Once the COVID-19 restrictions allow us to meet again in person, we will be able to go ahead with planned events, including an Annual Remembrance event for families who have lost a loved one to suicide.
