Support by Telephone
We answer calls from individual bereaved by suicide all year round. We provide information on what supports are available to them, listen to people who want to talk about their bereavement and connect them with our support groups or to other bereavement supports.
Support by Email
Every person who contacts us via email is answered with 48 hours. This service is free of charge. All of the facilitators who work with HUGG have been bereaved by suicide, so can provide empathy and lived experience to those who contact us.
Support Groups
All HUGG Groups meet every 2 weeks, for 2 hours and are led by 2 trained Facilitators, who have a lived experience of suicide. Our groups are confidential space where there is hope, healing and connection with others who understand the impact of the loss of a loved one to suicide.
HUGG groups are for any adult bereaved by suicide. We provide in persona and online only groups. There is a constant need for new groups, so we need to recruit and train new volunteers. Our ambition is that there will be a HUGG group available for every bereaved adult in Ireland.
Resources & Events
Every HUGG group is equipped with resources to help those attending to cope with their bereavement. We have a library of books and resources which are available to attendees, free of charge.
We constantly engage with other bereavement organisations in Ireland and beyond, learning and adapting our services to the needs of those impacted by suicide.
We provide webinars on grief and bereavement, to help those grieving to understand the feelings around their loss and help them to understand the many grief reactions which surround this traumatic loss.
Due to the COVID-19 our support groups are now meeting online.
